Mothers and Company Grand Opening Press Release
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Launches Mothers & Company's
New Natural Parenting Center
West Boylston, MA, On Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 5:00 pm Mothers & Company, with the participation of the Wachusett Chamber of Commerce, will be conducting a ribbon cutting ceremony to launch the new Mothers & Company natural parenting center, located on the first floor of the new Three Rivers Building* in the center of West Boylston Mothers & Company provides comprehensive, evidence-based education, postpartum support, and quality products to childbearing families in Central Massachusetts. Its services address the full circle of maternity and early parenting in a way that encourages the natural process, informed decision making, and informed purchasing. They are dedicated to offering organic and natural products and the best of the best products for parents and infants. All their products and services come with knowledgeable instruction and support from experienced mothers. Mothers & Company is a community of women founded by women passionate about educating and supporting the childbearing family. All groups, classes and workshops are facilitated by qualified and caring professionals who are dedicated to new parents and their babies.
Mothers & Company was founded in 2006 by six perinatal health professionals and mothers who were passionate about helping mothers and their partners to get the information and support they deserve around pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and parenting. The first Mothers & Company location (inside Cyprian Keyes Golf Club) was much smaller but nevertheless built a strong following amongst new parents. However, there was always the vision of creating a maternity and parenting center for comprehensive, evidence-based education, postpartum support, and quality products for families all under one roof. This new center has realized this vision far beyond their wildest dreams.
Jeanette Mesite Frem, co-founder and owner states, "Our new and much larger space realizes our dream to create a community center for parents, children and those who love them. As one expectant father who took our classes said, „I‟m telling all my friends to GET pregnant just so they can come to Mothers & Company!‟ Imagine being a new parent and knowing there‟s one place where you can take fun and thorough prenatal classes, get breastfeeding and new parent support, take an infant massage or toddler music class and attend informative seminars, too." Frem continues, "We are proud to offer the most extensive natural product selection in Central Massachusetts, perhaps further. Our shop offers products that are actually useful to new parents and healthy for babies and toddlers (like the largest selection of cloth diapers, slings, nursing bras, breast pumps and breastfeeding accessories in the region). There is no other place in Central Massachusetts that provides all of these services, classes, activities and natural products under one roof."
The Grand Opening Celebration Week runs November 2 – 7, and includes over 20 activities for parents and children, many for free as they celebrate the new store launch. One of the highlights of the opening activities is a visit by Senator Harriett Chandler on Tuesday, November 3 at 10:00 am, who will be observing part of an Itsy Bitsy Yoga Baby class as well as taking a tour of the new center. Grand Opening activities are also listed on the website at www.mothersandcompany.com and all are invited to take a tour and participate in all the activities through November 7, 2009. The ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, November 4, at 5 pm will also include a reception following the ceremony. A portion of the sales proceeds during opening week will go to the Foundation to Advance Midwifery.
*The Three Rivers Building is a center for health and wellness which includes Mothers & Company, a warm therapy pool (which MoCo will also be using), a yoga studio, a family chiropractor, acupuncturists, massage therapists and a holistic health counselor. The Open House for the Three Rivers Building is November 7, 10 am – 1 pm. All are welcome.

Sarah J. Kyriazis named WBJ 40 under Forty

Sarah J. KyriazisAge: 33
Title: President
Company: New Market Media
Company location: Worcester Residence: Worcester
College: University of Vermont and Lesley College
Career highlights: My educational background is in classical studies and I became a technology teacher to at-risk high school students in Worcester. When I started a family, I began doing freelance graphic and web design.
I love working with small businesses and helping them achieve the brand and web presence their businesses need to compete in today’s market.
Community involvement: I am very involved in the Greek Orthodox community and volunteer my services for both St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and Holy Trinity Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. I have also donated my services to Preservation Worcester, Blackstone CanalFest, Shrewsbury Youth & Family Services, Junior League’s Rock for a Cause and other local nonprofits. I think it’s important to volunteer, especially at my church, because it is the parishioners that keep it going.
Biggest professional success: Launching mymetromama.com and holding the metroMAMA Kids’ Expo. We had more than 1,200 people attend and enjoy a fabulous fun-filled day. The expo raised money for a local nonprofit that does fingerprints for children at no charge.
Dream job: My ultimate dream job is to learn to decorate and make 3D cakes and cookies for weddings/special events.
Businessperson she admires most and why: The businessperson I admire most is my grandfather, Peter Angelakis. He grew up very poor, the son of Greek immigrants and became a very successful businessperson. He taught me about work ethic and he is always giving me support and advice on how to deal with clients, employees and business in general.
If you weren’t doing the job you’re doing now, what would you do? If I wasn’t doing web/graphic design, I would probably go back to my former job as an instructional technologist. I have a master’s in education in technology and I love teaching teachers how to use technology to enhance their curriculum.
